The efficacy of kaempferol and its derivatives in the management of diabetic hyperglycemia and its complications

Abstract


 

Diabetes is one of the most prevalent metabolic disorders worldwide. The incidence of diabetes is increasing in the last decades, and It has become a significant global challenge. The efficacy of current therapeutic methods in the management and treatment of diabetes is not perfect. Hence, finding newer treatment methods or complementary therapies is valuable in patients with diabetes. Kaempferol, as a flavonol found in the variable range of plants such as vegetables and fruits, has been proven to have numerous therapeutic effects on the management of various diseases such as cancer and other metabolic disorders. The efficacy of kaempferol and its derivatives in the management of diabetes complications and glycemic indices has not been discussed so far. Hence, in this paper, we performed a comprehensive review of the protective and pharmaceutical properties of kaempferol in diabetic control.
